In Loving Memory of Crystal Jones Woodard
Crystal Jones Woodard lived a life defined by compassion, service, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.
Born into a proud U.S. Army family, Crystal was the daughter of Charles and Billie Jones. As an Army child, she experienced life across the United States and abroad before her family settled in Radcliff, Kentucky. A graduate of North Hardin High School, she continued her education at Kentucky State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Social Work, served as a cheerleader, and became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She later earned her Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Crystal dedicated her professional career to serving military veterans through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. For nearly three decades, she provided compassionate care, advocacy, and hope to those who had sacrificed so much for our nation. Her work reflected her belief that every person deserves dignity, respect, and access to quality care.
In 1998, Crystal married the love of her life, James Woodard. Together they built a loving marriage that spanned twenty-four years.
In 2018, Crystal's life changed when she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Throughout four years of treatment, including chemotherapy and radiation, she remained a source of strength—not only for herself, but for countless others facing similar battles. She openly encouraged women, offered comfort to newly diagnosed patients, and inspired hope within a growing community of breast cancer survivors and fighters.
Her own journey revealed the many obstacles patients often face beyond their medical diagnosis, including transportation challenges, access to nutritious food, wellness resources, emotional support, and specialized care. Crystal dreamed of ensuring that no one would have to face cancer alone or without the resources needed to continue treatment.
Although Crystal passed away on July 11, 2022, her vision continues to inspire lives every day.
To honor her legacy, Crystal Blossom, Inc. was established to carry forward the work she was so passionate about. The organization provides transportation assistance and supportive resources to individuals diagnosed with breast cancer and other cancer-related illnesses, helping remove barriers to life-saving treatment. Through scholarships, community partnerships, and acts of compassion, Crystal Blossom, Inc. also invests in future generations of leaders who share Crystal's heart for service.
Crystal's legacy is more than a memory—it is a movement of hope, support, and empowerment. Through every life touched, every patient served, and every opportunity created, her light continues to shine.

Crystal Blossom, Inc. is dedicated to honoring the legacy of Crystal Jones Woodard while providing hope, support, and empowerment to individuals diagnosed with breast cancer and other cancer-related illnesses by helping remove barriers to treatment through transportation assistance and supportive resources for underserved communities across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. We are also committed to empowering future leaders by providing scholarships to eligible Kentucky State University students pursuing degrees in Social Work, Sociology, and Nursing.
